Rs 1.3 lakh stolen from chemist shop

An unidentified miscreant allegedly stole Rs 1.3 lakh and some documents after breaking into a chemist shop at Model Town area opposite Deep Hospital in the wee hours of Thursday. Amritpal Singh, owner of Baba Deep Singh Drug Mart, said he came to know about the burglary after his employees telephoned him on Thursday morning.

An unidentified miscreant allegedly stole Rs 1.3 lakh and some documents after breaking into a chemist shop at Model Town area opposite Deep Hospital in the wee hours of Thursday.

Amritpal Singh, owner of Baba Deep Singh Drug Mart, said he came to know about the burglary after his employees telephoned him on Thursday morning.

Singh said the burglar was caught stealing in the CCTV camera installed in the shop, adding that a man, appearing to be around 25 years old, entered the shop from a window. He then opened the lock of the cash box with a pair of scissors and stole Rs 1.3 lakh and some documents.

The shop owner has handed over the video recording to the Model Town police, who have initiated investigation in the matter to register a case.
