Unidentified persons allegedly stole Rs 2.6 lakh after breaking open a motorcycle’s glove compartment in Moti Nagar on Sunday.

The victim, Sanjiv Dhawan of Bindraban Road, told the police that he had withdrawn Rs 2.6 lakh from Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC), Cheema Chowk, and was on his way to the Focal Point.

Dhawan said he parked his motorcycle outside Shubh Luxmi Enterprises factory and went inside. After sometime, when he came outside, he was shocked to see the motorcycle’s compartment open and his cash missing. He immediately called the police.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Tarsem Singh at Focal Point police station, who is investigating the matter, said the police were scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed at nearby buildings to get clue about the accused.

A case under section 380 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) had been registered.
