Rs 2 lakh looted from ATM at Moga, 2nd incident in a week
Some miscreants, with covered faces, looted Rs 2 lakh by breaking open an automated teller machine (ATM) of the Punjab National Bank (PNB) branch at the pharmacy college on the Moga-Ferozepur road here, during the wee hours on Wednesday.

A week ago, some miscreants had also broken the ATM of the ICICI Bank on the Amritsar road and had stolen Rs 7 lakh from it. The miscreants had also abducted the security guard Sukhdev Singh of the bank, but after some time he was found near the Lohara chowk here.
Though the district police had formed a special police team to crack the case and nab the culprits, yet there has been no headway in the case.
Bhag Mall, assistant sub-inspector of the Moga sadar police station, said that the security guard of the ATM of PNB Sukhjiwan Singh had complained to the police that when he came to duty, he found the ATM broken and the cash missing.
The police said that, during the preliminary investigation, they have found that the accused had used a gas-welding set to break open the ATM.
The ASI said that the incident occurred at about 4.40 am when the security guard on night duty had finished his duty and gone home. According to information, the CCTV camera was installed at the ATM but the looters had sprayed black colour on it.
“A case has been registered against unknown people under Section 380 of the IPC in this regard.
