Rs 4 lakh, laptop stolen from SUV

A laptop and Rs 4 lakh were stolen from a sports utility vehicle (SUV) after smashing its windowpane near a hotel on Brown Road in Old City area on Sunday.

The complainant, Atul Malhotra, who is a city-based industrialist and a resident of Samrala Road, said he went to a hardware shop on Brown Road near Hotel Pukhraj around 9am.

When he returned after shopping, he found that the windowpane of his Innova car was shattered and his bag containing Rs 4 lakh and a laptop missing.

On being informed, Division Number 1 police reached the spot and initiated investigation.

Additional commissioner of police (ACP, north) Dhruv Dhaiya visited the spot and scanned the CCTV footage of the cameras installed at the nearby establishments, and found some clues regarding miscreants.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered against the unidentified persons at Division Number 1 police station under section 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
