Ruckus prevailed at the ongoing swadeshi mela at Dussehra ground in Phase 8, SAS Nagar, on Saturday when the organisers stopped a ‘gatka’ (martial arts) show after a song with reference to militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was played.

The audience hurled shoes and raised slogans against the team, while members of the ‘gatka’ team brandished swords, interrupting the show for about 45 minutes.

The organisers resumed the show after the team completed their performance on a religious song. Swadeshi mela is being organised by Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) and Centre for Economic Policy Research, to counter the growing presence of Chinese goods in the local market and promote Indian products.

About 300 stalls have been put up in it.
