The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here on Sunday claimed that hundreds of its workers participated in the party's 'Run for Unity'- marathon that was organised in the memory Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel,-the first home minister of the country, on his 63rd death anniversary.

BJP's Himachal unit vice-chairman Ram Swaroop Sharma said Patel had made tremendous contributions towards the country's unity.

He said the campaign had been launched to mobilise the nation and gather iron from all corners of the country for the 182-metre statue of Patel, which has been planned on the Namrada river in Gujarat.
