Rupnagar admin gears up for Canadian premier's visit

The district administration is all geared up for the visit of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper to Anandpur Sahib on November 7.

During his visit, Harper will pay obeisance at Sri Kesgarh Sahib and also visit the prestigious Virast-e-Khalsa. Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal will accompany Harper during his visit. Harper is among the first important foreign dignitaries visiting Virast-e-Khalsa after it was opened to public in November last year.

Rupnagar deputy commissioner Pardeep Kumar Aggarwal held a meeting of senior officers of the district administration on Thursday to prepare for the proposed visit of Canadian Prime Minister. Deputy commissioner directed the officials to complete the arrangements for the visit of Harper in a time-bound manner. He directed the Anandpur Sahib municipal council executive officer to ensure cleanliness in the town during the visit of Harper and also asked the police to make adequate security arrangements for the occasion.

The meeting was attended among others by additional deputy commissioners Sucha Singh Mast, Sukhwinderpal Singh Marar, SP (H) SS Bains, Anandpur Sahib SDM Amarjit Singh Shahi, Rupnagar SDM Ravinder Kumar, Virast-e-Khalsa marketing and public relations manager Tejinder Singh, district transport officer Pardeep Singh Dhillon, PWD XEN Inderjit Singh and assistant civil surgeon Dr Baljit Singh.
