In the general House meeting of municipal corporation (MC) scheduled on Monday, councillors of Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP are planning to support amendment in Town Planning Scheme (TPS).
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ward number 18 councillor Inderjit Aggarwal said, “We want amendment in the TPS from state government, as some public properties were illegally sold by colonisers in different areas of city. Since then, residents have built their houses on these lands, but they remain under constant fear that their buildings can be demolished any time as per law.”
“These residents are not at fault and have been living in these houses for many years. So we want from government to bring amendment in the TPS,” he added.
The councillors also want to bring more new lands under the Mix Land Use before implementation of the master plan.
Aggarwal said some of areas had around 50% commercial activities as the small hosieries were running from homes. With permission for mix land use, the people connected with these small hosieries could get relief, he added.
Jaswinder Singh Bholla, councillor of ward number 60, said, “I will raise the matter of broken roads in the city during the House meet. Many roads have broken due to the recent rains. I will also take up insanitation in my ward at the meeting.”
