Deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal on Saturday said the ties between the Shiromani Akali Dal and the BJP were old and were unaffected by petty outbursts by certain individuals.

The deputy chief minister, who was in the holy city, said, "This has been answered repeatedly. I would say the ties are as strong as ever."

Meanwhile, union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, who was also in Amritsar to give a presentation on food processing and talk about various schemes, said, "There is no tiff between the SAD and BJP and the relationship will continue to be strong. I am part of the union government. I meet top leaders regularly and see no rift of any sort. The ties between the two parties are old and unbreakable."

Sukhbir not to attend swearing-in

Sukhbir, who has been invited to the swearing-in ceremony of union ministers in New Delhi on Sunday, won't attend it because of prior engagements. Harsimrat Badal will represent the SAD at the ceremony.
