Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal)’s Delhi election in-charge and senior vice-president Balwant Singh Ramoowalia has said that the party is considering contesting Lok Sabha seats outside Punjab in alliance with the BJP.

The party contested four seats in Delhi, the results of which are out on Sunday.

“We are excited about the results due on Sunday and we are sure we will win. However, victory at the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Parbhandak Committee (DSGPC) elections has proved that we have the capacity to mobilize the Punjabi votebank, even outside the state.”

“There are large pockets in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Madya Pradesh, where we can mobilise the Punjabi vote bank in the favour of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Lok Sabha elections. We are willing to take responsibility.”

On whether responsibility meant asking for Lok Sabha seats, he said: “It will be too early to comment. Our mission is to form the next NDA government at the Centre. If we contest, the NDA will benefit.”
