The Kisan Morcha of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded the implementation of agriculture loan at one per cent rate of interest in the state to prevent suicides by farmers in Punjab.

While addressing a press conference here at the Circuit House on Wednesday Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal, national secretary, BJP Kisan Morcha said SAD party was not ready to implement the scheme for farmers that would offer loan on agriculture at one per cent rate of interest."In a bid to prevent suicides Kisan Morcha wrote a letter to chief minister (CM) Parkash Singh
Badal 15 days ago to implement this scheme but to no avail yet, Singh said."

Even in states like Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, the government has already announced the implementation of agriculture loan at one per cent rate of interest in their states but the Punjab government is yet to decide on it. Otherwise states with the BJP government will soon start one per cent rate of interest scheme for farmers across the country, Grewal added.

Whereas following the directions from high command, the state BJP party is going to start BJP workers' 'Sangharsh Abhiyan' at district levels to reach every member and discuss their problems in the state.

The party has also launched an email id for their workers to register their complaints and suggestions regarding party affairs.

Grewal said the party took this initiative to strengthen the bond between party workers and to know the grass issues of the public through their local leaders.
