Making history of sorts, three brothers contesting as rebel SAD candidates from Adampur municipal council won their seats, giving a huge setback to the ruling SAD-BJP, particularly to local Akali MLA and chief parliamentary secretary Pawan Kumar Tinu.

Not only did Ranjit Singh Karwal, 52, Darshan Singh, 50, and Harjinder Singh, 46, who own a gas agency and contested on LPG cylinder as their symbol, win by a thumping majority, but their group of independent candidates, with the support of the Congress, BSP and AAP, managed to win six of the 13 seats here.
