The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Saturday ridiculed state Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh for promising to provide internet facility to students in educational institutes saying it is better if he got acquainted with ground reality before promising the facilities which already existed.

In a statement released from the party head office here, SAD spokesman and education minister Daljit Singh Cheema said people understood the position of Capt Amarinder Singh, who liked remaining out of the state most of the time and seldom cared for what happened in the state. He said Amarinder must be aware of the ground reality before making promises. He said more than six thousand schools of the state already had internet connectivity and those who lacked it are situated in border areas.

Cheema reminded the state Congress chief that Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani had already announced that 4G services would be available in each and every village of Punjab for which infrastructure was being laid. He said the beginning of this service is just a matter of days now and after its launch not only government educational institutes but almost every department would provide its services online.
