The Mullanpur Dakha police have booked an Akali sarpanch of from Jangpur village, Gurmeet Singh, along with his mother, sister and brother-in-law, for allegedly killing his 56-year-old uncle, with an intension to grab his 10 acres land.

The case has been registered following the complaint of Gurmeet’s wife Rajinder Kaur. In her complaint to the police Kaur said Shamsher Singh, her husband’s uncle (father’s brother) was unmarried. As Shamsher has no successor, her husband hatched a conspiracy to grab his land. Gurmeet also involved his mother Balwinder Kaur and sister Jasbir in the crime, she alleged.

She alleged that Shamsher, a diabetic, was given overdose of insulin by Gurmeet leading to his death on Monday.

Mullanpur Dakha station house officer Gurpreet Singh said the police have registered the case. The police will initiate action after the post-mortem report.

Kaur said she married Gurmeet in 1999 and they had two daughters. But Gurmeet used to blame her for not bearing a male child and used to threaten her that he will marry another woman, Kaur said.
