Senior Congress leader Bir Devinder Singh has termed the Sadbhawna rallies being organised by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as valedictory functions of the SAD-BJP government.
He said that the fact was evident in the rallies as CM Parkash Singh Badal repeatedly apologised for wrong doing; if any, advertent or inadvertent in the past nine years of SAD-BJP rule. Punjab congress perceives these so-called ‘Sadbhawna Rallies’ as a ‘Sarkari Tamasha’, he added.
“After brazenly misusing the authority of Akal Takhat for their insular gains and callous mishandling of the Guru Granth Sahib sacrilege issue, and letting the police carry out police brutalities against peaceful Sikh protestors, Sukhbir Singh Badal has resorted to this ‘tamasha’ of ‘Sadbhawna Rallies’ to cover up his colossal failure as the home minister and SAD president,” the Congress leader said adding that “Otherwise, where is the threat to peace and tranquility in Punjab that necessitates a full blown exercise of Sadbhawna Rallies?”
The SAD leadership seems to be completely baffled and find themselves on the losing wicket in the wake of the triumphant return of Capt Amarinder Singh at helm of the Punjab Congress, he said.
