punjab Updated: Apr 02, 2013 22:39 IST

The team of the much talked about Punjabi movie 'Sadda Haq', on Tuesday reached Patiala to promote the film, slated for release on April 5.

The film is based on real incidents in Punjab from 1980's to mid-1990's and had been initially banned by the censor board. The film was cleared with universal certification at a meeting of a high-level committee of the censor board.

Producers of the film, Kuljinder Sidhu and Dinesh Sood; directors Mandeep Benipal and Gaurav Kakkar; and the main cast said misconceptions were created about the film by a section of the society, but they were all baseless. This would be the first Punjabi film based on a real events, the crew claimed.

"Sadda Haq has been made with a good objective and on a unique storyline. The turbulence and travails between 1980's and mid-1990's pushed the youth rtowards inhumanity. Many lives were lost. This film is a dramatised adaptation of facts and events as they had happened in the past," said one of the producers.

Clarifying the real purpose of the movie, the producers said it was important to take lessons from historical mistakes so as to shape a better futute in which these were not repeated.
