A day after, a woman and her three children were murdered in Malerkotla, the Sangrur police claim to have solved the murder mystery by arresting a neighbor of the victim and recovering evidence from his possession.
A 25-yr-old woman Naazni along with three kids Shaheen (3), Ahmad (2) and Roshni (4) were killed in their home on Thursday evening after which the police started the investigation and nabbed the accused within 24 hours of the incident.
The district police chief Pritpal Singh Thind said that the Sangrur police have arrested Daya Singh son of Darbara Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran Sahib, who lives with his mother in neighborhood of Naazni at Malerkotla. The police have recovered the hammer which was allegedly used as weapon and a shirt full of blood stains from the possession of the accused.
Thind said that the victim’s husband Mohammad Khurshid in his complaint said that when he came back home from work on October 29, he heard the mother of the accused shouting and Daya coming out of the toilet of his home holding a hammer.
In his statement Khurshid said that when he looked inside he found his wife Naazni lying in a pool of blood. The other two kids Shaheen and Ahmad were also lying dead in his house and his entire house was filled with blood.
Khurshid said the accused Daya used to frequently trouble his wife and that he had professed his love her.
A case under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the IPC has been registered by the police.
It is pertinent to mention here that the accused was out on bail as he was earlier arrested in a murder case, for which he was sentenced to life term imprisonment. He was released on bail after having completed 8 years of sentence. Meanwhile, the district police officials said that they will ask the court to sentence him with capital punishment as he brutally killed three children with hammer.
