Additional director general of police (ADGP) SK Sharma, law and order, informed the officers of the Jalnadhar range about three new projects started by the state government in the Sanjh Kendras set up at police sub-divisions.
Sharma, who visited the city on Saturday, said the government had started a women and child protection care unit, a dispute and conflict resolution unit and community policing to provide better administration to the people and to solve their disputes in effective way.
He informed that the dispute and conflict resolution unit would work to resolve petty disputes, while the community policing unit of the sanjh kendras would devise new ways to provide better policing to the public.
He said these units would find solutions to the people's problems by involving locals.
The ADGP also listened to the problems of the field staff and sought suggestions on making the kendras more effective.
Lok Nath Aangra, DIG, Jalandhar range, Balkar Singh Sidhu, SSP, Hoshiarpur, Yurinder Singh Hayer, SSP, Jalandhar ( rural), Inderbir Singh, SSP, Kapurthala, HPS Khakh, SP, Phagwara and sanjh kendra heads participated in the meeting.
