Newly elected Member of Parliament from the Jalandhar Lok Sabha segment Santokh Singh Chaudhary on Monday visited the Phillaur assembly constituency, his political base since 1992.
The MP was given a rousing welcome at Phillaur by the party workers led by his son and Punjab Youth Congress president Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary along with party workers.
Chaudhary thanked the voters and party workers for supporting him. He assured to fulfill his poll agenda, particularly to eradicate the drug menace.
The Youth Congress chief also assured the gathering that he would work for the development of the area.
He said a drive will be launched soon, particularly in Phillaur, to stop illegal sand mining and flow of drugs.
He also requested the newly elected MP to release money from his MPLAD fund for the betterment of the youth of Phillaur.
The MP along with PYC chief and Congress workers also held a march across the city and thanked the voters for their support. The MP was also weighed with ladoos by party workers.
