Expressing his anguish and grief over Sarabjit Singh's his long time friend Satpal Singh is shaken as he feels shattered after the death of his friend.

“It was 22 years ago when I lost my friend when he suddenly disappeared. But there was always a hope that he will return. But last six days after the attack have been terrible and sleepless nights for me. Today I lost everything, “said Satpal, who runs a dhaba in the town.

Not going out of his house since morning, Satpal gathered guts to move into Sarabjit's house ,as people gathered to mourn the demise of son of the soil.

Going back down the memory lane, Satpal said, “We spent a lot of time together. And today with tears in my eyes, all the memories have come back. He was two years elder to me. We were friends but treated each other as brothers.”

Narrating the story, Satpal said, “Sarabjit was a very tough man. And we all went together to the ‘Akhara’ for exercise. All people were his fan. Soft-spoken and gem of a person, Sarabjit won hearts in no time. I could still remember the day when Sarabjit disappeared. We were shell-shocked. We looked for him for days. But nothing worked.”

"Everybody was taken by surprise when a letter came that he was in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail. There has not been single day when we didn't remembered him. But all is finished now," he added.

Talking further, Satpal said, “He was loved a lot by his family and that is the reason that the family has fought hard. They fought the battle alone. It is just now that government of India has reacted, but it was too late.”

Sarabjit’s friend who also lives next door said, “I blame Indian government more than that of Pakistan. The government of Pakistan has been lying all life that Sarabjit was a terrorist. He was not. He was a very innocent. India should have saved him.”

Our two soldiers were killed recently and now another innocent Indian. How long will we lose our men like this, he questioned.
