Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) president Paramjit Singh Sarna has called for separate gurdwara parbandhak committees for every state.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, Sarna claimed that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's 'soft corner' towards Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had stalled the formation of a separate gurdwara parbandhak committee in Haryana.
He added that then PM's weak policies had affected Sikhs as well as the Congress in the country. Sarna stated that if the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) had been working properly, there would be no need for establishing separate committees.
He also condemned Badal and SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar for saying that separate gurdwara parbandhak committees would divide Sikhs. He said Badal and Makkar had issued the statement for their vested interests.
Jaswinder Singh Baliyewal, state president of the SAD (Delhi) and Sarna's brother Manjit Singh Sarna were among those who accompanied him.
