Sarna not allowed to meet Gurubaksh Singh Khalsa

punjab Updated: Jan 14, 2015 19:21 IST

Former president of Delhi SGPC Paramjit Singh Sarna was on Wednesday not allowed to meet former militant Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa.

Sarna, accompanied by a member of Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and supporters, was stopped at the entry gate of Trauma Centre here by police.

Police insisted upon permission from doctors for allowing them to meet Khalsa.

Later, talking to media, Sarna said due to some "political compulsion", he was not permitted to meet Khalsa.

Sarna also accused Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal of playing with Sikh sentiments for political benefit.

He said Sikh prisoners would have been released if Badal had taken up this matter with Union government sincerely.

Khalsa, who was earlier on fast, has been seeking the release of seven Sikh prisoners, including those convicted for the assassination of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh in 1995 and one in bomb blast in New Delhi in September 1993, in which nine persons were killed and 25 others, including MS Bitta, were injured.
