Shiromani Akali Dal sarpanch of Katani Kalan village on Wednesday came out against cabinet minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon stating that Dhillon framed false cases against him.
Sarpanch Sukhdev Singh, along with the villagers staged a protest demonstration for nearly two hours in front of the police commissioner’s office. He demanded that action should be taken against those officials who implicated false cases against him.
Senior police officials later assured him that the matter would be investigated and action would be taken.
Sukhdev said police officials of Koomkalan police station registered a false case against him on Dhillon’s directions.
He alleged that at least five cases have been registered against him. “Some of the residents of Koomkalan were also booked by the police for illegal possession of Panchayat land, farming on government land and attempt to murder without any proof,” Sukhdev said.
Koomkalan police station house officer (SHO) Surjit Singh Nagra refuted all allegations and said Sukhdev’s brother was making video footage of the police station and its official record, when he was caught by a cop at the station.
He said mobile of Sukhdev’s brother was taken by cops and a report was sent to the senior officials to register a case against him under the Official Secret Act.
He said after the incident Sukhdev started levelling allegations that police thrashed his brother and accused the police of wrongdoings.
Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP) Paramjit Singh Pannu assured that appropriate action would be taken in the case after investigation.
