With assembly elections round the corner Greater Mohali Area Development Area (GMADA) is all set to spend Rs 400 crore on the development of roads, parks and bridges across various sectors here.
Most of the works are to begin by December as Punjab government will showcase development works done in SAS Nagar during the elections.
“Tenders estimated at Rs 50 crore have already been invited and those worth Rs 350 crore are in the final stages of publication for allotment of various public health, civil, horticulture and electrical works”, said an official.
For the construction of roads and public health works estimated at Rs 22 crore in the projects that are litigation free in Sector 78, 79 and 80, tenders have already been invited.
To execute the work of lighting in parks in these sectors, tenders worth Rs 1.25 crore have also been invited. Tenders worth Rs 20 crore for the execution of pending electrical works in Sectors 76-80 and for completing pending public health works estimated at Rs 10 crore in Sector 77 will be called for soon.
To strengthen the road network in SAS Nagar, tenders worth Rs 7.25 crore for construction of various roads have already been floated.
This includes an amount of Rs 5 crore for the construction of road leading to food court in Sector 62 and Rs 2.25 crore for the construction of 200-feet wide PR-7 road from NH-22 towards Sukhna Choe, SAS Nagar.
For the construction of horizontal road from Sector junction 88/96 - 87/97 to Sector junction 84/100 up to railway line at SAS Nagar, tenders estimated at Rs 70 crore and for construction of road from Sector 78/7986/87 to Sector junction 105/106108/109 up to railway track at SAS Nagar, tenders estimated at Rs 48 crore will be invited shortly. For the construction of dual carriage way high level bridge on N-choe on 100’ wide sector dividing road of Sector 80-81, tenders have been invited. The work is worth Rs 14 crore.
Apart from the above development works, projects worth Rs 100 crore will be initiated shortly in Sectors 88/89.
SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT IN AEROCITY
In Aerocity, tenders for construction of 5 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant for treatment up to tertiary level have been invited in the first phase by GMADA.
MULLANPUR FLYOVER LIKELY TO OPEN TODAY
The 3-km long elevated flyover to facilitate smooth connectivity for the people who travel to Chandigarh from Kurali via Mullanpur will be opened today.
The flyover will facilitate driving on the six-lane highway in Mullanpur.
