The members of Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee have alleged that SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar has been helping some mischievous persons by not taking any action against them.

In a press conference on Saturday, committee's president Bhai Balbir Singh said Manjeet Singh, a 'fake' preacher was running a dera at Sandhu Chatha village and had kept a Shri Guru Granth Sahib in his dera.

He alleged that Manjeet was offering verses of Shri Guru Granth Sahib by writing them on chits to the people and was duping money from them.

He said committee nabbed him in the presence of villagers on June 2 for his misdeeds. He also confessed for his guilt in past 40 years and apologised in panchayat.

He added that this matter reached with SGPC for action against Manjeet but its president, Avtar Singh Makkar in-turn blamed Satkar Committee members by saying that they were creating terror by exposing such persons.

Balbir Singh said it was really shameful that Makkar was not helping committee and supporting those 'fake' preachers.

Another member Sukhjeet Singh said if SGPC fails to take action against persons such as Manjeet Singh, committee will take help of administration and police to register FIR against them. He said committee will continue to expose such preachers in state.
