The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here on Wednesday asked chief minister Virbhadra Singh to order a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the BJP's charge sheet submitted to the governor, instead of threatening to file a defamation suit.
In a press statement, BJP state president Satpal Satti said Virbhadra Singh was threatening of going to court against leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, Hamirpur Lok Sabha member Anurag Thakur and his brother, Arun Singh. “Instead, he should get our charge sheet inquired by CBI and let the truth come out,” said Satti.
He claimed that all allegations levelled against the CM were based on facts and proofs. “He should accept his misdeeds and step down, instead of threatening others,” Satti he.
The BJP leader added that Virbhadra had filed many defamation suits earlier too, but later withdrew them. “Same will happen with this defamation suit,” he said.
Terming it as a pressure tactic of Virbhadra, Satti said the CM wanted to maintain pressure to save face in front on the Congress high command. Satti added that the BJP was not afraid of a defamation suit, but Virbhadra Singh should step down so that there could not be any misuse of government machinery. “The BJP is not afraid and will be raising this issue with the people of the state,” he said.
