In the latest directions by project director of Society for Promotion of Quality Education for poor and meritorious students, medical and commerce streams students , whose names have been in updated in the merit list on the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan website, have been directed to report at the Senior Secondary Residential School for Meritorious Students at 9am on August 3.
The students of non-medical have been asked to report at 9am on August 4.
Meanwhile, even as the students have been asked to report to the schools, the construction of girls’ hostel is still going on, despite the deadline to complete and hand over the hostel being Thursday.
According to the earlier directions, the students will stay in the boys and girls hostel of the residential school.
District education officer (DEO), secondary, Paramjit Kaur Chahal said, “I have informed the higher authorities that the girls’ hostel is not ready. According to the project director’s instructions, we will make the necessary arrangements for the students on August 3 and 4.”
The students have also been directed to bring textbooks and copies of Class 10 with them.
The state government will provide free education, mess and hostel facility to the students at its six meritorious schools in the state. Earlier, during counselling sessions, parents and students were asked to buy textbooks, school uniform, stationery and practical copies on their own. They were also directed to bring all essentials along with them on the first day to school.
