School teacher suspended for consuming liquor in school

A day after he was caught consuming liquor with one of his associates during school hours on the campus by sarpanch and other villagers, district education officer (elementary) Salwinder Singh on Thursday suspended Manjit Singh posted at Government Primary School, Mochpur in Kahnuwan block of Gurdaspur district.

A day after he was caught consuming liquor with one of his associates during school hours on the campus by sarpanch and other villagers, district education officer (elementary) Salwinder Singh on Thursday suspended Manjit Singh posted at Government Primary School, Mochpur in Kahnuwan block of Gurdaspur district.

Manjit’s associate Gurpreet Singh, a teacher at the same school, who had managed to escape the scene, has been transferred to Government Primary School, Khokharwal in Sri Hargobindpur block of the district.

“Inquiry officer Gurdaspur deputy DEO (elementary) Balbir Singh has been conducting an inquiry into the allegations levelled against the teachers,” said the DEO.

Meanwhile, Gurdaspur DEO (secondary) Amardeep Singh Saini on Thursday suspended a science teacher, Bharat Bhushan, posted at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Saidowal Khurd, for allegedly abusing school principal and staff in presence of students during school hours on August 24.
