A sub-divisional officer (SDO) and a junior engineer of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) were thrashed and window panes of their vehicle broken by residents of a village in Abohar, a sub-division of Fazilka district.

As per information, on Saturday night, the power grid at Sito village broke down that led to disruption in power supply in as many as eleven villages. A team of power officials, led by Hardeep Singh, JE, reached there and repaired the fault. However, the power supply to Sardarpura, Khairpura, Duttarawali and Bhagsar villages could not be resumed.

To find out the fault, the team reached Khairpura and found that the supply line of a motor was attached with the main power line. When the employees tried to disconnect the illegal connection, a dispute occurred with the villagers and they called SDO Vijay Aneja to the spot, but the matter could not be resolved, said reports.

Later on, when Vijay along with Hardeep was returning in his car and reached Sardarpura, about a dozen people attacked their car with stones and dragged them out of the car and thrashed them before fleeing the spot.

The two were admitted to the local civil hospital.

The police, on Sunday, booked Sandeep Bhadhu, Dharampal, Vinod and Pawan besides 15 unidentified men under sections 353, 186, 337, 341, 379, 427, 506, 148 and 149 of the IPC.
