In an unprecedented security arrangement for the state-level function to mark the first International Yoga Day here on Sunday, more than 100 senior police officials have been deputed in the city.

According to the officiating superintendent of police (SP) Abhishek Garg, the yoga celebration venue has been divided into 56 zones and each would be manned by an officer of the rank of deputy superintendent of police.

Besides, ample number of female cops would be deployed, police said.

A total of 12,000 students are expected to attend the yoga programme after being trained by volunteers of yoga guru Ramdev's organisations.

Several political dignitaries and leaders of the Rashtriya Swaymsewak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are expected to attend the mega function held in the home constituency of the chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who has himself been a senior RSS functionary.

In view of the weather, the authorities have installed fans and air coolers for the participants.

However, change in weather has provided some relief from three days of humid climatic conditions and organisers hope that light showers on Sunday morning would not hamper the function.

Participants have been asked to reach at the venue at 5.30 am and the programme will being at 6 am.

Meanwhile, according to the district administration, the participants from other districts would start reaching the venue by 4.30 am by buses and ample arrangements for their refreshment had been made.

State authorities and Patanjali Yog Samiti have made transport arrangements to ferry volunteers from various places of the state.
