Three days after Seema Azad, journalist-cum-activist managed to sneak into Panjab University (PU) campus to address a seminar on fascism, she wrote a post on social networking site Facebook, responding to MP Kirron Kher’s challenge for a debate.
“Kirron Kher ji, If you had the courage and culture to debate, you would have cancelled the arrest order and would have come to debate,” wrote Azad.
The administration had directed on March 3 to arrest Seema Azad, if seen in and around the PU campus. Seema Azad in her post has mentioned that the SFS should have been allowed to organise the programme freely.
“When I went to deliver a speech in her constituency, an arrest order was issued against me and having failed to do that, she is challenging me for debate. Kirron Kher ji, if you had the courage and culture to debate, you would have cancelled the arrest order and would have come to debate! SFS would have been allowed to organise the programme,” reads her Facebook post.
Seema’s post further read, “I pay revolutionary greetings to SFS and whole Punjab who stood up for the freedom of speech. Long Live Revolution!”
Meanwhile, SFS leaders said that ABVP had went to meet the governor VP Singh Badnore asking him to cancel the SFS event and day later gave threats to use force if Seema Azad came to campus.
