The Sports Authority of India (SAI) has invited budding sportspersons for admission to its Centre of Excellence and SAI Training Centre for extensive training. The annual selection trials will be held at Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NSNIS) on May 27 and 28.
For Centre of Excellence, the trials will be conducted for athletics, hockey, judo, weightlifting and wrestling for both boys and girls. Candidates between 12 and 25 years of age on June 1 will be considered eligible.
The selection criteria for individual events is that the candidate should have obtained first four positions in sub-junior, junior, cadet, youth, senior levels at the national games or national championships held by National Sports Federation or participated in the last Olympics, Asian games or championship, world championship or World Cup.
Sportspersons applying for team events should have participated as a member of national team senior, junior, sub-junior, youth or cadet selected by National Sports Federation.
The sportspersons who have been members of medal winning team that have stood first and second positions at national games or championship held by National Sports Federation or have participated in last Olympics, Asian games or championship, world championship or world cup will also be considered eligible.
For SAI Training Centre, trials would be conducted for cycling and fencing for boys and girls. Under the selection criteria sportspersons preferably belonging to Punjab who have won medals at state, school, inter-university or other national-level competition in sub-junior or junior categories will be considered eligible.
