Senior divisional commercial manager (DCM), Ferozepur Division, northern railway, Roshan Singh inspected the city railway station on Saturday to check cleanliness and other commercial activities.

Singh inspected all seven platform and food and other item stalls for hygiene and required certificates. He checked the parcel office, booking office and travelling ticket examiners (TTE’s) running room, which was found to be in shabby condition.

Talking to HT, Singh said, “The pace of cleanliness drive that kicked off from October 2 was good, but over all cleanliness was not up to the mark. We need to do a lot, but for this public support is required, as this is a public place and cleanliness can’t be maintained without public support.”

He said there were no proper dustbins on the platforms. Thus, he ordered the authorities to place dustbins at a distance of every 10-feets on all platforms. He said along with creating awareness among public, fine would also be imposed to stop them from littering on the station.

Showing concern over irregularities in parcel office, senior DCM said, “I came to know about the problems like overcharging and under weighing in the department. All such practices need to be curbed. Sudden checkings will be done in future and action will be taken against defaulters.”

He ordered to build a toilet at parcel office for the labourers working there. He also pointed out the broken floors.
During inspection at booking office, he found more cash on a window, and ordered inquiry into the same to local authorities.

He fined three vendors for not having proper medical certificates on the platform and gave warnings. Senior DCM also ordered inquiry on chief inspector tickets (CIT) station Hakam Singh, as ticket checking staff absent from the main gates during inspection.

Commercial inspectors (CMI) Ajay and Jaswant Singh, deputy chief inspector of ticket Surendra Singh, CIT ML Parashar, Ram Singh and Pravesh Chandar were also present during inspection.

TTE running room to be beautified

Acting on the HT news on shabby conditions of the TTE’s running room, senior DCM ordered for 25 more beds and mattresses.
