Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Friday claimed that sensing defeat in the July 11 by-election for Dasuya seat, Congressmen have fled the electoral battlefield in the constituency.

Addressing election rallies in favour of BJP candidate Sukhjit Kaur Sahi at Ghogra, Passi Kandi, Dadial and Badla villages near here, Badal said that anti-Punjab thinking and anti-people policies of the Congress at the national and state levels had been exposed and its decimation at the national level was just a matter of time.

Accompanied by Rajya Sabha member Avinash Rai Khanna, Badal said that results of assembly elections in UP, Andhra Pradesh and MC elections in Delhi were reflective of the public sentiments.

Flaying the Punjab Congress for "misleading" the people on the issue of central funds, the chief minister said that the Centre was resorting to every mean to pinch money from the pockets of the people who should unite against its anti-Punjab thinking.

Badal assured Dasuya residents that after winning, BJP nominee Sukhjit Kaur Sahi would give a boost to the development of the area.

The developmental works carried out by her late husband Amarjit Singh Sahi were exemplary, he added.
