Serial killer flees from police custody

Serial killer Mohammad Nasir, who has been arrested by the Basti Jodhewal police on Monday managed to escape from the police station. He is accused of executing at least seven murders.

The Basti Jodhewal police had arrested Mohammad Nasir, his brother Mohammad Azhar and accomplice Mohammad Sadiq on Monday for executing killings. The court had remanded all accused to police custody and they were lodged at the police lock-up at Basti Jodhewal police station
The police have filed a case of negligence against night Munshi Rai Singh and Punjab Home Guards Ashok Kumar and Jagjit Singh. The police have also registered another separate case against Mohammad Nasir.

The accused got into a scuffle with his brother and other accused in the lockup. Taking precautions, police officials present in the police station took him out of the lock-up and put him up in a separate room and tied handcuffs to his feet.

The accused the pleaded pain in his feet and put handcuffs in his hands instead of the feet.
ACP (East) Naveen Singla said that on hearing the pleas of the accused, the police removed the locks from his feet. In the wee hours of Thursday, the accused managed to remove his handcuffs and escaped.

"The accused is a desperate man and could commit crimes again. Police parties have been pressed into service to ensure his arrest."
