New initiative of the Ludhiana Post Office is getting success as the Post Shoppe, which was recently opened at head post office, near Bharat Nagar Chowk, has generated revenue of Rs 50,000 within 15 days of its opening.
Consumers can purchase gifts and other necessary items, which can be sent by courier from this Shoppe. Products, including cards, cups, suits, bed sheets, teddy bears, pens, coloured cards, t-shirts and other items can be purchased from the Shoppe.
Moreover, the post office has signed an agreement with Archies gift gallery to offer more variety of greeting cards at the shop. The post office is also providing packing facility to the customers.
An official from the post office told that new packing machine has also been installed. People can buy the products from the Shoppe and can get their products packed properly. Moreover, they can also courier it to nears and dears within the country and abroad.
City resident Gaganpreet Singh said, "This is a very good initiative taken by the postal department as post Shoppe is helping several people in buying the products, which people had to buy from the market earlier. Moreover, packing material and packing facility is also available. More such shops should be opened in other areas."
Post office has also bought special designed suits and phulkaris from Patiala. SP Pahwa, senior post officer at head office near Bharat Nagar Chowk, said, "All the items have been brought from special places, which are popular for these items. Residents can take benefit of purchasing, packaging and courier facility under one roof. In the first 15 days, we got a very good response from people."
"Dry port service is also running very successfully as people can send their courier abroad also by getting their products approved from custom department in Ludhiana. While, other private courier service providers get their products approved from Delhi custom department due to which the unapproved products are returned after a few days. But, the process here is very simple," Pahwa said.
