A man alleged that he was being threatened of being implicated in a false case by the family of the accused landlord, who had tried to rape his 8-year-old daughter.

The victim's father, who is a school van driver, alleged that though the accused was their landlord, now his family was not allowing them to take his belongings from the house.

He also alleged that the police have been ignoring his repeated pleas to get him back his belongings.

The police had arrested Kuljit Singh, 55, of Guru Nanak Colony of Dugri on May 5 for attempt to rape. A case under sections 376 and 511 (attempt to rape) of the IPC and sections 4 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act, 2012, was registered against him.

The victim's father alleged that Kuljit's family was influential and had links with local politicians. The family of the accused was also pressurising him to withdraw the compliant or else they would implicate him in a false case, he alleged.

“The accused, despite being baptised, tried to rape my daughter and I will never forgive him for this. I left the house on the same day and we are living in a relative's house. Our all belongings are lying in the house of the accused,” said the father of the victim.

“Though the police have arrested the accused immediately after registering the case and he has been sent to Ludhiana central jail on judicial remand, my daughter is still in shock. She screams when she reminisces about the incident,” he added.

The victim's father alleged that, “On the morning of May 5, Kuljit came to our room and tried to rape my daughter when I had gone to pickup children for school and my wife was taking a bath. We have been living in Kuljit's house as tenant from the past seven months.”
