Police said Dr Daljit Kaur Dhillon, who runs Prince Clinic, had come to the fore stating that the victim's father approached her in 2012 asking to help him with the birth certificate for his son.

The doctor told the police that the man claimed that his son was born on August 20, 1999 at the clinic, and she helped him with the paper work. The victim's father further submitted an affidavit and report of Prince Clinic, Jammu Colony, Vishwakarma Town, with the municipal corporation to prepare the birth certificate. As a result, the victim, who is said to be 14 years old, would in fact be 15.

Inspector Beant Juneja, station house officer (SHO), Division Number 5 police station, said during investigation, the police had come to know that the victim's father was convicted in a murder case registered in Himachal Pradesh in 1998 and was jailed between 1998 and 2002.

"Therefore, there are questions on whether the victim is actually his son, and if he was born in August 1999. There is also doubt on the victim's age," the SHO said.

It is pertinent to mention that the police had booked the victim's father and his wife under sections 212 (harbouring offender), 216 (harbouring offender who has escaped from custody or whose apprehension has been ordered), 389 (putting person in fear of accusation of offence, in order to commit extortion), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) on January 16 following the statement of Barjinder Kumar of Sham Nagar.

Kumar is the father of the victim's tutor Radha and her two brothers, who were in October accused of sexually exploiting the boy and making explicit videos of the act.

Radha and her brothers Raghav and Madhav were arrested earlier in January. However, the police later gave a clean chit to Raghav. Police later claimed that the victim's father was in fact behind the whole episode, and used his son as a tool to extort money from the tutor. The lewd videos of the sexual exploitation are currently with a forensic laboratory to test their genuineness.

"With the new development, the police will add sections 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc.), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (whoever fraudulently or dishonestly uses as genuine any document or electronic record) of the IPC in the FIR registered against the victim's father," he added. Efforts are on to arrest the duo, the SHO said.
