The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has again postponed the World Punjabi Conference, which was scheduled to be held at Fatehgarh Sahib from February 5 to 7.

Stating this here on Monday, SGPC additional secretary Daljit Singh Bedi said the decision was taken by SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar on the suggestion of some Sikh scholars and intellectuals based in Canada, England, the US and other countries. Some of them had expressed their inability to attend the conference on the given dates, he added.

No fresh date has been announced for the event.

This conference was originally scheduled to be held on October 23-24 last year at Fatehgarh Sahib, but it was postponed due to the unrest in Punjab following a series of incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib.
