SGPC member’s son beats up student, suspended

Son of Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) member Amarjit Singh Chawla, Daljinder Singh and three other students were suspended from Guru Nanak Engineering College after they thrashed another student of the college, Karampreet Singh, in the hostel on Tuesday.

Taking note of the incident, the college director of the college MS Saini also marked an inquiry and formed a committee. When contacted, Yadvinder Singh, one of the inquiry committee member, said, that the committee is working to get the records of the students from the college and further action will be taken against the students post that. Meanwhile, the two parties reached a compromise between at the police station.

The four suspended student’s are- Maninder Preet Singh Brar, M. Tech, Production, Daljinder Singh (MBA), Gurjant Singh (MCA), Khushdeep Singh Toor (MBA). Further entry of Sulakhan Singh has been banned in the college. Sources confirmed that there was a dispute between two students Daljinder Singh and Karampreet Singh which started when Daljinder Singh and his friends passed a comment on Karampreet Singh’s friend. Karampreet Singh said that it was only after he stopped Daljinder and his friends to stop commenting on them, Daljinder lost his temper and attacked him in the hostel along with his friends.
