Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has taken strong exception to the deletion of names of certain pilgrims from a list submitted to the Union home ministry for clearance of their visit to Pakistan.

A jatha of pilgrims, which will leave on April 10, will participate in the Baisakhi festival at Sikh shrines across the border.

In a statement on Friday, SGPC secretary Dalmegh Singh regretted that the names of 33 pilgrims had been deleted from the list for the reasons best known to the authorities concerned.

He pointed out that most names deleted were of those belonging to Haryana and Chandigarh.

Pilgrims will visit Panja Sahib, Nanakana Sahib, Dera Sahib and other Sikh shrines before returning on April 19.
