Avtar Singh Makkar, president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), said the Union government should take immediate steps to stop the screening of Dera Sacha Sauda head Baba Ram Rahim’s film MSG as all the Sikh organisations were against it.

Makkar said the government would be responsible for any law and order problem that arose if it allowed the screening.

“It does not suit a ‘godman’ to act like a stunt professional and the Sikh sangat is against vulgarity. I fail to understand the message Ram Rahim wants to convey to the public. The state government should ban the screening as Sikhs are likely to oppose the film,” said Makkar.

The SGPC chief added that the committee would establish a censor board, especially for movies related to Sikh religion. “Those who want to make a film on Sikhs have to seek permission from the censor board before its release,” he said.
