The Punjab Christian Movement (PCM) on Tuesday demanded registration of a case against yoga guru Ramdev for hurting religious sentiments of the community.
The Punjab Christian Movement (PCM) on Tuesday demanded registration of a case against yoga guru Ramdev for hurting religious sentiments of the community.
A delegation of 65 members of the PCM, led by president Rajindar Kumar and vice-president William John, met the subdivisional magistrate (SDM) here on Tuesday. They submitted a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating an advertisement of Ramdev’s Patanjali products has hurt the sentiments of the community.
It alleged that the advertisement being aired on television shows the Christian cross while depicting foreign products, which is “objectionable” and “unwarranted”.
The memorandum states Patanjali can oppose foreign companies and promote its own products, but should not unnecessarily link Christianity to them. The organisation has urged the PM to order the registration of a case against Ramdev for sowing seeds of hatred among different communities.
