Jalandhar city police have booked eight employees, including two directors of Chandigarh-based share-broking company, Berkeley Security Limited, for duping a local business man Rs 16.54 lakh.

The complainant Rajesh Sehgal alleged that the accused forged power of attorney of his account in the name of its sub-broker Naveen Minhas, who withdrew Rs 16.54 lakh from his account for making share purchase transactions in an unauthorised manner.

After a thorough investigation into the complaint, a case under Sections 406, 420 and 120B was registered against eight accused. The accused Naveen Minhas was arrested and has been remanded in three-day police custody.

“A team of cops was sent to Chandigarh to arrest the remaining accused identified as Rajiv Ahhuja, Kapil Sen Goel, Pooja Sharma, Aditya Gupta, Devinder Kalra, Rajiv Gupta and Mani Sharma and all of the them were reported absconding,” SHO Rajinder Sharma said.
