Bathinda member of Parliament (MP) Harsimrat Kaur Badal met union railways minister Suresh Prabhu, on Tuesday, and report-4dly extracted an assurance from him about the halt of the Bathinda-Delhi Shatabdi express at Mansa, which is also part of her Lok Sabha constituency.
Harsimrat swung into action after HT published a report on Tuesday about Mansa missing an halt of the train despite its three halts in Haryana.
In a press note issued on Tuesday, the office of the district public relations office, Mansa, claimed that Harsimrat was making strenuous efforts to ensure a halt of the train at Mansa and she met Suresh Prabhu on Tuesday to ensure a halt of the train there.
“Suresh Prabhu has assured Harsimrat that the train will halt at the Mansa railway station,” reads the press note.
However, no amended schedule has been issued so far and Mansa deputy commissioner Parveen Kumar Thind has only ‘hoped’ that Harsimrat’s efforts would succeed.
It would be interesting to see if the train will halt at Mansa on its first journey scheduled on December 18. Bathinda businessmen and traders fear the train will not last long if its schedule is not changed.
