The district administration on Friday initiated new services through e-governance at Sugam centre, located at the deputy commissioner's (DC) office here.

Deputy commissioner Dinesh Malhotra said e-stamp papers of `10 and `20 denomination would now be available at Sugam centre. “This will help ease long queues at stamp vendors and will benefit commoners,” said Malhotra.

Elaborating, he said e-tracking system has been introduced in four important wings and departments located in the DC office complex. “This system will further be introduced in food supplies and other developmental departments to improve functioning of these departments,” he said.

Malhotra said now people could deposit their electricity bills at Sugam centre, Shimla. Information related to renewal of motor driving licences, armed licence and registration of vehicles would be sent through SMS on mobile phones of the applicants.

“The applicants will receive all related information on SMS that will save time and efforts of the person, seeking renewal,” he said.

In order to provide better internet services, the DC office was being equipped with Wi-Fi services. “For better monitoring and functioning of different departments, the complex has been made fully Wi-Fi and e-complaints will be reviewed in the DC office every Monday,” he added.
