Shiromani Akali Dal candidate declared elected unopposed in Nakodar

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate Aditya Bhatara alias Mannu on Monday won the Nakodar nagar council seat from ward no 5 on the virtue of being unopposed. The Congress nominee against him withdrew his nomination papers.

Sub divisional magistrate-cum-returning officer Kulwant Singh announced Bhatara that the Congress candidate Kirandeep Dheer from ward no 5 had withdrawn his nomination papers and there was no other candidate from the ward.

Congress candidate alleged that he had withdrawn to portest against the government's partial nature. The SDM did not consider his objection filed against Bhatara for encroaching Nagar council land.

After the withdrawal of nominations, 55 candidates' are in fray for the 16 Nakodar nagar council seats, elections for which will be held on Monday.
