Terming Tuesday's alleged attack by workers of Shiv Sena on the Kalvari Church as a dangerous precedent, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) district convener Ahbaab Singh Grewal said the attempt of the organisation was an attempt to terrorise the minority community.
“AAP strongly condemns these attempts to disturb peace. A delegation of Aam Aadmi Party workers on Wednesday went to met the church officials and expressed solidarity with them,” Grewal said.
He said even though the matter was sub judice, it was a crude attempt to scare the church officials: “AAP will never allow such attempts to be successful. It is high time that the Punjab government wakes up and takes notice of repeated attempts being made to polarise society and drive a wedge between different communities in the state.”
AAP delegation met pastor Darbara Singh and other church officials and discussed the situation with them. The delegation consisted of Grewal, HS Cheema, Varinder Khara, Jatinder Modgill and TS Thind.
