While demanding an inquiry into the business of alleged unauthorised advertisements by Lead Ads Private Limited, a city-based advertisement company, the members of Shiv Sena Punjab staged a protest on bank of Ganda Nullah near Lord Mahavira Civil Hospital, Ludhiana, on Thursday.

Earlier a week ago, the Shiv Sena members had alleged that the state public works department (PWD) minister Sharanjeet Singh Dhillon’s son Simaranjeet Singh Dhillon, director of Lead Ads Private Limited, was involved in the business of unauthorised advertisements.

While protesting against the MC, Rajiv Tandon, chairman, Shiv Sena Punjab, demanded that a CBI inquiry should be initiated into the matter.

He also alleged that the advertisement mafia had caused the loss worth in crores and a CBI inquiry should be carried out to investigate the relations between the advertisement mafia and the MC mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria.

Dhillon and the mayor both had earlier denied the allegations levelled by the Shiv Sena.

Tandon alleged the MC had not charged taxes as per the law from Simranjeet Singh Dhillon, who is one of the directors of the Lead Ads Private Limited which displays advertisement outside some of the prominent city malls.

Shavinder Singh Sandhu, one of the directors of the company, said, “We have followed all norms and the allegations levelled by the Shiv Sena are baseless. The tax was paid as per the law.”

He added the MC could not charge license fee as the advertisements were displayed on the malls that were the private properties.

“Lead Ads Private Limited was the highest bidder for a tender of the advertisement from Fountain Chowk to Dholewal Chowk in 2012 but due to some reason, the tender was cancelled. If we had a political approach, we would have got the project. The company is ready for any kind of inquiry.”

When contacted, Simranjeet Singh Dhillon, one of the director of company, said, “The allegations are totally baseless and I will move court to file a defamation suit against Rajiv Tandon and others responsible for defaming my image.”
