Police commissioner Jatinder Aulakh has suspended Civil Lines SHO inspector Vavinder Mahajan and two other cops after an incident where the cops had allegedly beaten up a few boys, including the son of an additional commissioner of police.
The incident took place on Saturday night when a party was on at a restaurant and the cops at the Civil Lines police station got information about a clash outside it.
Sources claimed that the police that rushed to the spot rounded up some boys, including the son of an ADCP posted in the city.
According to the police authorities, the boys who were beaten up had nothing to do with the clash.
When contacted, Aulakh said, "According to our information, the boys were not at fault but they were beaten up badly. So the action was taken against the cops."
Three more boys were also rounded up but they were also set free.
When apprised of the late-night parties at Ranjit Avenue, Aulakh said it had come to his notice and he would ensure that the restaurants closed on time.
